Nelson J. Andrade

DIRECTOR

Nelson J. Andrade, director, is an experienced professional with more than 20 years of restructuring and financial and operational advisory experience. Nelson has advised companies, financial sponsors, lenders, and creditor committees across a wide range of industries, including home building products, real estate, transportation logistics, healthcare, retail, life insurance, food and beverage, and general manufacturing. These projects have ranged from $50 million to over $6 billion in revenue.

Nelson’s experience includes managing short term liquidity and cash flows under distressed environments; preparing and presenting budgets and cash flow models; developing business plans and analyzing businesses’ viability; creating complex financial models to analyze alternative restructuring scenarios; executing bankruptcy preparation, case administration, and contingency planning; evaluating cost structures and identifying return-to-profitability opportunities; implementing and assisting the execution of various turnaround plans; and, overseeing M&A processes from the Company and the lender perspectives.

His experience includes serving as Director at RSR Consulting, a small boutique restructuring advisory firm in New York, where he advised the lenders to a $500 million real estate development in the Northeast, wound down and monetized the assets of Dowling College, advised the board of an NYC co-op in the restructuring of its liabilities. Nelson was also Director at Alvarez & Marsal’s North American Commercial Restructuring practice, where his most notable engagements included advising a Security Services and Transportation company in the management of its cash flows and restructuring of its Treasury function, and Payless ShoeSource, Inc., a $2.3 billion footwear specialty retailer, in its in-court financial restructuring. He served as a Director at Loughlin Management Partners, a national boutique turnaround and restructuring advisory firm, where his responsibilities included in-court and out-of-court restructurings and operational turnaround assignments, including the restructuring of Masonite International Corporation, Caribe Media, Inc., and Interstate Bakeries Corporation.

Nelson Andrade earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of São Paulo’s Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (ESALQ/USP), Brazil, and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management. He is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) and a member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA).
