Mark D. Podgainy
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Mark D. Podgainy, managing director, has more than 20 years of experience in operational roles and consulting. His areas of expertise include transaction advisory services, business plan analysis, performance improvement, cash and vendor management, and interim management services. He has also worked with law firms on forensic and litigation support assignments. His clients have included companies, secured lenders’ boards of directors, and creditors’ committees. His assignments have ranged from consumer products, apparel and textile, building products, food, hospitality, real estate, services, and retail sectors.
Mr. Podgainy has extensive consulting and operating experience in the food industry supply chain, including restaurant chains such as Big Boy Restaurants, Roadhouse Grill, and Eateries (Garcia’s, Garfield’s, and Pepperoni Grill concepts), among others. In addition, Mark has worked with several food manufacturers, including Rich Products, Nestlé Brands, Heinz USA, Chef Francisco, Ocean Spray, Smucker’s, Country Pure, and StarKist. His food distribution advisory experience includes middle-market distributors, and he has worked with the New England Wholesale Food Distributors Association (NEWFDA). Mark has also held line and management positions in the food service and hospitality industries, including Howard Johnson’s Restaurants, Harvey Hotels, and Winegardner & Hammons (Assistant General Manager and General Manager of full-service 300-room hotels).
Prior to Getzler Henrich, Mr. Podgainy provided consulting services at TRG (now CRG Partners). Mark has a master’s degree in business administration from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. He is currently a board member of Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City, Inc., a non-profit that revitalizes underserved neighborhoods, and of 520 West 19th Street Condo Association. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Turnaround Management Association, and the Cornell Hotel Society, and has written frequently on mergers and acquisitions, real estate, and related topics for numerous industry trade publications.
