Bert Weil, managing director, is an experienced restructuring professional with more than two and a half decades of consulting experience. He has served as financial advisor, interim CEO & CFO, chief restructuring officer (CRO), chief restructuring advisor, turnaround professional, and crisis manager to over 150 clients, including public, private, and not-for-profit entities.
Bert has helped businesses with operational and profit improvement programs, business plan development, organizational restructurings, balance-sheet restructurings, debt replacements and sell-side transactions, and liquidations. His industry experience includes light & heavy manufacturing, imported- and domestic-product merchandising and distribution, food processing, apparel and textile, professional services, printing, non-profit, and retail.
Prior to joining the restructuring community, Bert learned first-hand the challenges of managing a struggling business while serving as the top financial officer of a NYC based public company with 1,000 employees. Prior to that, he managed the NYC-based corporate foreign exchange and derivatives desk for ABN Bank (now ABN-AMRO) and held derivative product business-development roles at Drexel Burnham Lambert and Citibank. He also held positions at Continental Grain Company, AIG, and Ernst & Young.
Bert was a 13-year officer and member of the board of the Turnaround Management Association’s New York chapter and is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth. He is a CTP (Certified Turnaround Professional) and a CPA. He holds a BS in Accounting from Lehigh University and an MBA from the Stern School, New York University.
