Daniel Larsen

DIRECTOR

Daniel Larsen, Director, is a financial advisor focusing on middle-market turnarounds, restructurings, and bankruptcies. He has worked on both the debtor and creditor side with experience in several industries, including financial institutions, restaurants, flooring & construction, gaming, movie theaters, retail, media and entertainment, manufacturing, and corporate wellness. He possesses a broad set of skills to advise companies on operational, financial, and strategic matters, with expertise in financial modeling, liquidity management, annual business planning, and diligence.

Select experiences include:
  • Managed the modeling, liquidity, and operations of an $80MM manufacturer of pasta, prepared meals, and pesto that had experienced a ~50% decline in revenue following the loss of highly concentrated customers. He worked quickly to identify and implement ~$5MM in annualized cost reductions, stabilizing the company’s profitability and allowing the business to pursue alternative strategic options. Daniel further worked with the company’s lenders, trade vendors, and other stakeholders to gain financial support for the business to execute a turnaround plan.
  • Advised a ~$450MM distributor to e-commerce and big box retailers. He was instrumental in the budgeting process, three-statement modeling, and re-classification of expenses. He worked with management to improve dashboards, prepare KPIs, and establish a weekly budget vs. actuals process to better communicate performance to the stakeholders.
  • Worked on several high-profile retail cases, including Sears and Barney’s, on both the financial and administrative functions, which included reviewing claimants, producing required monthly reporting, and managing bank accounts and fee applications.

Before joining Getzler Henrich, Daniel worked at middle-market management consulting firms performing turnarounds, performance improvement, asset sale diligence, and interim management. Before his distressed advisory work, he was a VP in Citigroup’s CFO office. He began his career at Morgan Stanley supporting an investment management team. Daniel graduated summa cum laude from Iona College with a B.S. in Business and holds an MBA from Cornell University.
